Built on partnership
Handshakes are just the start.
Oxeland Group is a joint venture between partners Chris Schmidt and Rich Severson forged in the Year of the Ox. These two long-time construction industry professionals had been golf friends for over twenty years before they worked together on the 7Seventy7 building and asked, “Should we do something together?”
The answer was a resounding yes.
Over a glass of bourbon, Oxeland Group went from a collaboration to a construction management firm involved in some of Milwaukee’s most notable projects.
Our philosophy is that every dollar and every person matters.
We’ve seen the construction industry through the corporate lens and have chosen a more agile and responsive approach. Unbound by strict guidelines, we deftly navigate the unpredictable nature of construction and make the most informed budget and timeline decisions.
Everything we do is for the good of the project.
Preconstruction
- Partner before the concept takes form.
- Transform ideas into detailed conceptual estimates.
- Provide absolute price transparency.
- Treat all projects as one-of-a-kind.
- Create organized project roadmaps.
- Keep all involved parties moving together.
- Hold an ownership mentality.
Construction
- Steward your interests and the investment.
- Avoid shortcuts.
- Identify and eliminate risks.
- Anticipate surprises.
- Turn every dollar into value.
- Have fun.
Post-construction
- Become friends.
- Grow Milwaukee.
- Dream up the next project.
- Repeat the collaboration.

Stewardship, one of our foundational principles, means every building we construct is more than glass, steel, and concrete — it’s a physical representation of the owner’s vision, the culmination of dedicated collaboration, and a lasting response to the community’s needs. Our projects occupy more than designated lots. They’re reminders of the value we can create when we build together.
